Welcome to the official website of the Embassy and Permanent Mission of the Republic of Suriname to the Organization of American States (OAS).

Roughly the size of the State of Georgia, Suriname is known for its topographical diversity, from its serene flat Northern Coast and from its beautiful savannas to the vast density of the Amazon jungle.

You can find Suriname on the North-Eastern coast of South America, to the North of the Federal Republic of Brazil and in the center of the Guyana’s. Suriname is the smallest independent nation of the South American continent.

Suriname has a diversity of ethnic groups, cultures, languages and customs, but most of all we are well known for our hospitality towards foreigners and tolerance towards each other. We are a country of laughter.

This website is inspired by the need to integrate the responsibilities of the Embassy and the Mission closely with the interests of potential investors, tourists and all those who are interested in Suriname. An objective of this site is also to inform Surinamese Diaspora abroad about the most important developments in the country and to promote the policies of the Government.

I hope that all visitors of our website would get a better understanding of Suriname and with great pride I introduce you to the beating heart of the Amazon: Suriname. Happy moments!
